s. and h. of Henry Plumptre (d.c.1410) of Nottingham by his w. Margaret (fl.1428); Notts. Archs., Nottingham recs., ct. roll CA1308, rot. 25. nephew of John Plumptre† of the same. m. ?Helen, da. of – Strelley of Woodborough, Notts., The only source for this marriage is the ped. of the Plumptres in R. Thoroton, Notts. ed. Throsby, ii. 81. Since, however, Woodborough lies just outside Nottingham, the match is not improbable, and there is some supporting evidence for it, albeit very slight, in the contemporary record. In 1452 our MP and Sampson Strelley of Oxton sued Katherine, wid. and executrix of Richard Strelley of Woodborough for debt: CP40/765, rot. 74d. at least 2s.
