Roland seems to have been knighted during the campaign in France in which he met his death. He is posthumously described as a knight in a final concord of 1427: CP25(1)/249/8/26. of Maulds Meaburn by his 1st w. m. by Nov. 1427, Eleanor (fl.1474), da. of Sir Richard Musgrave*, at least 1s.
