At the proofs held on 31 Oct. 1426 and 26 Nov. 1431, on the coming of age of Henry Fenwick* and Thomas Lumley, Weltden claimed to have been elected coroner on 26 Dec. 1401, the day of Fenwick’s birth, and on 29 Sept. 1409, that of Lumley’s: CIPM, xxii. 831; xxiii. 724. Such testimonies were mere formulas, and do not provide worthwhile evidence as to the date of his election.
