To add to the earlier biography,The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 272-3. it may be noted that in the Easter term of 1449, during Bodyngton’s final term as mayor of Wallingford, the abbot of Reading brought an action in the court of common pleas against him and two others for a debt of £40. The suit continued in the following term, but no pleadings are recorded. CP40/753, rot. 292; 754, rot. 25d. Bodyngton was described on the plea roll as a yeoman.
