Bounde was among the leading men of Portsmouth assigned by the Exchequer in April 1437 to appraise a shipment of smuggled wool and hides discovered on a vessel in the harbour. E159/213, recorda Hil. rot. 7d. His election to Parliament for the borough followed just a few months after his term as bailiff. Otherwise, he appears in the surviving records as a witness to a transaction dated at Portsmouth in June 1450. Add. Ch. 15855. The rent-roll compiled in 1469 refers to property held by Margaret Bounde, who was possibly his widow, and also to some ten acres of land, two tenements and a garden held by John Bounde, presumably one of his kinsmen.
