At an unknown date, Burgoyne helped to arbitrate in a quarrel over a messuage at Cambridge between Richard Hunnyng* of that town and Walter Huntyngtone of Essex. The arbitrators assigned the messuage to Hunnyng, while ordering him to pay his opponent £60. Their attempt to resolve the quarrel failed, for Hunnyng subsequently sued Huntyngtone in the Chancery for his alleged breach of the arbitration award. C1/71/122.

A man of some means, in early 1429 Burgoyne joined others from Cambridgeshire in lending the Crown £57 6s. 8d. E401/720, m. 15. In December 1432 he received a recognizance for £50 from John Morys* of Cambridge, son of his erstwhile associate, Nicholas Morys†, but the purpose of this security is unknown. CCR, 1429-35, p. 171.
