A little more can be added to the earlier biography.The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 514. By 1415 Chandler evidently owned a burgage with a courtyard at the north gate in the Old Port of Devizes. His sole recorded election to the mayoralty aside, Chandler’s standing in the community of Devizes is illustrated by his periodic service as a witness to the property deeds of his neighbours, including those of William Coventre*.
