CHIPPENHAM, Thomas

In the earlier biography, The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 569. Chippenham is wrongly said to have been elected as MP in 1420 while serving as mayor. The election indenture shows that the mayor who returned him was Walter Mubbe. C219/12/4. The error comes from the defective list of mayors in J. Duncumb, Hist. Herefs. i. 364.
