As a freeman of the Cinque Ports atte Crowche was able to claim exemption from parliamentary subsidies on property in Bewsborough hundred in 1416 and in Newchurch hundred in 1434. E179/124/88, rot. 7; 234/2. On 6 Nov., during the first session of the Parliament of 1429, he was among those barons of the Cinque Ports who attended Henry VI’s coronation. Add. 29615, f. 156. Besides the offices in Dover mentioned above, atte Crowche also served in 1435 as one of the constables responsible for organizing the watch in Butchery ward, where he lived. Egerton 2105, f. 37v. He appointed as his executors two local men, Thomas Petyt, who served as chamberlain, jurat and from 1455 until 1458 bailiff of Dover, and John Hammond. Add. 29810, f. 10.
