No reference to Maderer has been traced beyond his election in 1425 in company with Thomas Pety*, a lawyer of Lincoln’s Inn. But since the outsiders who sat for Carlisle are easy to identify, the probability is that he was a resident of the city. There is no reason to identify him with the namesake who, in 1432, was a feoffee in lands in Cheshire for William Stanley of Hooton.
