No certain reference has been found to him, but he was certainly from a Bridgnorth family. In the reign of Henry IV he or, more probably, a namesake, was one of four Bridgnorth men who made a lease of various tenements and cottages within the boundaries of the castle there; and in 1459 Henry Merwall numbered among the attestors to the borough’s parliamentary election.
