It seems very likely that John was related to his fellow townsman Thomas Peers*. One of the town’s bailiffs when elected to the Commons, he attested his own election to the Parliament of 1447.

In a will of September 1488, Henry Beaumont (a relative of Henry Beaumont I*) left his wife Margery a messuage in the town’s market place which Peers had once held. Suff. RO (Ipswich), archdeaconry of Suff. wills, IC/AA2/3/58.
