Polglas was connected with the long-serving steward of the duchy of Cornwall, Sir John Arundell I* of Lanherne, in whose retinue he sailed to France in the carrack George at an uncertain point in the first quarter of the fifteenth century. It is possible that he also owed his return to Parliament for the duchy borough of Helston to Arundell’s patronage.
