In 1648, he and another gentleman purchased manor of Stockton-on-Tees, co. Dur., from trustees for the sale of church lands for £6,165.Coll. Top. et Gen. i. 7. In 1651-2, he purchased fee farm rents in Yorks. for £2,580 (worth £206 p.a.); for £1,341 (worth £103 p.a.); for £385 (worth £29 p.a.); for £772 (worth £58 p.a.); and for £957 (worth £73 p.a.).SP28/288, ff. 30, 47, 49, 52, 54, 55.
