b. ?1770, 3rd s. of Rev. Nathan Wetherell, DD (d. 1807), master of Univ. Coll. Oxf. and dean of Hereford, and Ricarda, da. of Alexander Croke of Studley Priory, Oxon. HP Commons, 1790-1820, v. 521, following Gent. Mag. (1846), ii. 426, states that at his death Nathan Wetherell was ‘worth £100,000’. In fact, his personalty was sworn under £3,500, though the residue was calculated for duty at £19,143.
