BURRARD, Harry (?1707-1791), of Walhampton, nr. Lymington, Hants.

The Burrard family had a very strong interest at Lymington, which usually gave them the recommendation to both seats.

In 1775 Sir Harry Burrard described himself as for ‘five and thirty years a steady adherent to the Government’.Burrard to Duke of Chandos, 27 Mar. 1775, S. Burrard, Annals of Walhampton, 96. He is not known to have voted against any Administration, or ever to have spoken in the House; and, in exchange for support at Lymington, usually allowed Administration to recommend to one seat. Before 1754 he held a secret service pension of £500 p.a., which he gave up on being appointed riding forester;Add. 33038, f. 415. at no time during his service in Parliament was he without provision from Administration. He died 12 Apr. 1791.
