ASTON, Sir Willoughby, 5th Bt. (1714-72), of Risley, Derbys.

In 1754 Aston stood for Nottingham on the Tory interest with the support of Lord Middleton, receiving financial support from him and ‘divers other local gentlemen’,John Clay to Newcastle, 24 Oct. 1753, Add. 32733, ff. 122-3. and was returned after a contest. In Dupplin’s list of 1754 he was classed as Tory. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. He stood again in 1761, but without Lord. Middleton’s support or that of the local gentry,Namier, Structure, 94; John Eggington to Newcastle, 4 Jan. 1761, Add. 32917, f. 121. and withdrew before the poll.

He died 24 Aug. 1772.
