Howard, a regular Government supporter, sat on the family interest at Carlisle. He did not see active service during the seven years’ war, but in 1760 he presided over the court martial of Lord George Sackville. He stood for Carlisle again in 1761, but withdrew when a contest threatened.

He died 26 Aug. 1765.

Author
