Ryder was a personal friend and regular follower of Pitt. His first reported speech was on 26 May 1786; on 27 Nov. 1787 he moved the Address; and five more speeches, four on commercial matters, are reported before the dissolution in 1790.

He died 26 Dec. 1847.
