biography text
Colepeper, whose family had been seated at Preston Hall since the time of Edward III, was returned for Maidstone as a Whig. He voted for the septennial bill in 1716, but in 1719 he was absent from the division on the repeal of the Occasional Conformity and Schism Acts, and voted against the peerage bill, on which he was put down by Craggs as to be spoken to by Lord Romney. Re-elected in 1722, he died 18 May 1723.
