biography text
Eden and his father represented Durham county from 1702 to 1727. Succeeding his father as a Tory in 1713, he voted against the Government in every recorded division of the 1715 Parliament. His name was sent to the Pretender in 1721 as a probable supporter in the event of a rising.1Stuart mss 65/16. He owed his re-election in 1722 to a split among the Whigs,2E. Hughes, N. Country Life in 18th Cent. 280 n. 1. who sank their differences in 1727, when he either withdrew or did not stand. He died 2 May 1728.
