biography text
Richard Fleming inherited the manor of North Stoneham, which had been in his family since the sixteenth century.1VCH Hants, iii. 479. A Tory and a member of the October Club, he was re-elected after a contest for Southampton in 1715, voting against the Administration in all recorded divisions. His name was sent to the Pretender in 1721 as a probable supporter in the event of a rising.2Stuart mss 65/16. He did not stand again, dying 4 Aug. 1740.
