The Kayes owned very extensive estates in the west of Yorkshire,1Stuart mss 248/151. which Kaye and his father represented in most Parliaments for over 40 years. A Tory and a member of the October Club, he voted against the Government in every recorded division after 1715. During the election campaign in 1715 Lord Carlisle reported that Kaye was said to have been concerned in the distribution of a Jacobite pamphlet, adding: ‘If it can be fixed upon Sir Arthur, I hope it may be thought at least a sufficient cause to expel him from the House’.2HMC Portland, v. 507-8. He died 10 July 1726.
