Mostyn was returned by his uncle and his cousin, the 1st and 2nd Marquesses of Rockingham. Voting with the Government, he was classed about 1749-50 by the 2nd Lord Egmont as one of the 12 ‘most obnoxious men of an inferior degree’ in the House of Commons, with the comment: ‘Jack Mostyn, very ill inclined to us and forward’.

He died 16 Feb. 1779.
