biography text
Thomas Ridge, who came of a Portsmouth family, inherited a large brewery there from his father. Returned for Poole as a Whig in 1708, he was expelled from the House of Commons in February 1711 for ‘great frauds and abuses’ in the supply of beer to the fleet.1CJ, xvi. 500-2. He was again returned in 1722, did not stand in 1727, and died 10 Feb. 1730.
