In 1741 Shuttleworth successfully contested Preston, where his father had been cultivating an interest.1See PRESTON, and W. Dobson, Parl. Rep. Preston, 17. A Tory, who voted against the Government in all recorded divisions, he was re-elected unopposed in 1747. The second Lord Egmont wrote of him in his electoral survey c.1749-50: ‘will be with us in the manner of his father’. He died 28 June 1773.
