biography text
Hugh’s family probably took its name from the hamlet of Aston near Leominster. He himself was undoubtedly related to the Leominster MPs, John II and Walter Aston; and it is possible that all three were connected in some way with the Herefordshire parliamentary representative of 1351, Sir Thomas Aston of Castle Frome.1He was still alive in 1386: CP25(1)83/49/41; C44/20/22. In 1384 Hugh and his wife conveyed a toft, 45 acres of arable land and two acres of meadow in Conhope, six miles from Leominster, to Robert Vykers of Aymestrey.2CP25(1)83/49/27.
