biography text
The John Bavell who, in April 1418, held office as constable of Reigate castle may well have been a kinsman of this obscure MP, although on chronological grounds alone he is unlikely to have represented the borough himself. The constable is described as a husbandman, so it would seem that the Bavells were a local family.1CIMisc. vii. no. 566.
