Colle was described as ‘of Leominster’ when he took out a royal pardon in June 1398. It was about this time that he witnessed a grant of certain property in the town to Leominster priory. Besides trading in wool grown locally, he also manufactured cloth, being between 1399 and 1401 assessed for contribution to the cloth subsidy by the Herefordshire alnager. On 20 Sept. 1407 he was one of the six burgesses of Leominster who, as responsible for its parliamentary election, were named in the indenture drawn up by the bailiff of the abbot of Reading’s liberty.
