Probably a relation, perhaps a son, of John Coterell, receiver of the honour of Wallingford (with whom he sat in Parliament in 1410), William witnessed a local deed in 1415. He may have been the William Coterell ’of Berkshire’ who ten years earlier had formally undertaken to do no harm to a Westminster taverner.1Bodl. Ch. Berks. 133; CCR, 1402-5, p. 516.
