FRYS, Richard, of Marlborough, Wilts.

Probably a relation of John Frys, bailiff of Marlborough some time before 1385, and of Robert Frys, who was to be bailiff in 1425, Richard himself worked there as a weaver. He paid the small sum of 6d. to the town’s levy of the general poll tax of 1379.1CPR, 1381-5, p. 520; CAD, ii. C2603; E179/196/44.
