GREEN, Thomas I, of Bridgnorth, Salop.

biography text

It was no doubt this Thomas Green who as ‘of Bridgnorth’ stood surety in June 1403 for the Exchequer lessee of lands in ‘Achesley’ (?Astley) Shropshire, following the death of the previous lessee, John Farnales, and who was summoned with other alleged malefactors, including John Bruyn, to appear before the King’s bench sitting at Shrewsbury in the Trinity term of 1414, but failed to do so. He once rented from the earl of Stafford a tenement and garden ‘subtus monte’ in Bridgnorth, which by 1438 had come into the possession of Thomas Shingeler.1CFR, xii. 211; E372/250 m. 39d; KB27/614 rex m. 42; Egerton Roll 2190 m. 1.
