biography text

Hyndon appears fairly regularly in local court records after 1385, when he was amerced for using false weights. Like many other Wallingford merchants, he dealt in more than one commodity—in his case, candles, cloth and fish. In July 1406, while his only known Parliament was in recess, he appears to have been involved with the master of St. John’s hospital in Wallingford and others, in a dispute with the local Benedictine priory.2Ibid.
