HYWEYE (HEYWEY), Thomas.

This Member is possibly to be identified with the man from Christian Malford, five miles south-west of Malmesbury, who in October 1391 was ordered to be arrested and brought into Chancery, to answer certain unspecified charges. He purchased a royal pardon in February 1398, but was later, before July 1400, outlawed for felony and incurred forfeiture of his property.1CPR, 1388-92, p. 521; C67/30 m. 34; CFR, xii. 70. However, all that is known for sure is that when Hyweye was elected to Parliament in November 1414 William Palmer II stood surety for his attendance, and that he in his turn did the same for John Gore in March 1416.2C219/11/5, 8. The names of the Malmesbury MPs in March 1416 are torn off the return, although those of their sureties are still to be seen, Hyweye being manucaptor for the senior, whose name is supplied by W. Prynne, Brevia Parliamentaria Rediviva, iv. 1055.
