biography text
Ive served on the jury at Midhurst which, in January 1402, indicted the lord of the borough, Sir John Bohun, and his servants for the murder of William Baggele. A month later Bohun’s men took their revenge by laying an ambush for Ive and Michael Maunser, but they apparently escaped. The indictments were brought before the King’s bench at Westminster in the autumn, when Ive was able to combine attendance in court with the representation of his home town in Parliament.1Suss. Arch. Colls. xcv. 50, 52.
Ive was recorded trading in cloth in Easebourne hundred, where Midhurst was situated, that same year of 1402.2E101/344/22.
