In 1414 a Thomas Kirkby was enfeoffed by the Wiltshire esquire Henry Thorpe of the manor of ‘Burdonswere’ in Kingsteignton and the hundred of Teignbridge, Devon, for the purpose of effecting an entail. The situation of Teignbridge near to Totnes suggests that this was the man returned by the borough to Parliament seven years later, but even if so, nothing more has been discovered about him.1CPR, 1413-16, p. 252; CFR, 1419-22, p. 9.
