A relation, perhaps a son, of the Thomas Lote, brewer, who was MP for Chippenham in 1363,1W. Prynne, Brevia Parliamentaria Rediviva, iv. 946; Wilts. Arch. Mag. xxxiii. 406. he was described as mercator when he contributed as much as 3s.4d.to the borough’s share of the poll tax of 1379. In June 1386 he witnessed a local deed. Otherwise nothing more is known of him, unless he was the Thomas Lote who attested a similar document at Michaelmas 1413, which is improbable.2E179/239/193 m. 18; Tropenell Cart. ed.
