biography text

Although he represented Stafford in at least six Parliaments and held office in the borough, comparatively little is known about this obscure figure. Between January 1381 and July 1390 he witnessed a number of local deeds, including conveyances of Sir Nicholas Stafford’s property in Tillington. In June 1388 he was one of the three burgesses of Stafford who were ordered by the Crown to deliver a deodand to the escheator, under threat of a fine of £20.2CCR, 1385-9, p. 398; 1389-92, pp. 278, 282; Staffs.
