In October 1371 the prior of Lewes leased four plots of land in ‘Hempshere’ to Norris and his heirs for 100 years, at an annual rent of 4s. Norris regularly made shipments of wool from Chichester and Lewes in the years 1378 to 1389.1Lewes Cart. (Suss. Rec. Soc. xxxviii), 92; E122/33/5, 8, 22, 34/1.
