Bridport | 1593 |
Servant of Sir William Paulet, 3rd Mq. of Winchester.
Lambert owed his seat at Bridport to his master the Marquess of Winchester. Lambert’s sister Jane was Winchester’s mistress. Apart from mention in his father’s will, and the record of a sum of £32 5s. received on behalf of Winchester for clothing some soldiers in Hampshire, no record of Lambert’s personal life has been found. He may have died before his half-brother Thomas made his will in 1603, for he is not mentioned in it. The pedigrees do not show the relationship of Lambert’s family with the branch of the family seated at Laverstoke, Hampshire.1W. Berry, Co. Genealogies, Hants, 180; Vis. Hants (Harl.
