biography text
Childe, whose uncle had entertained Dr. Sacheverell at Kinlet in 1710, was a Tory country gentleman, who voted consistently with the Opposition. Returned unopposed for the county, he was one of a group of Shropshire Members who brought in a bill to prevent irregularity in the delivery of election writs.1CJ, xxi. 159. At the 1741 election he contested Bridgnorth, but was ignominiously defeated and did not stand again. He died 14 Dec. 1757.
