biography text

Descended from Huguenot refugees, Delaune was connected through his father’s mother and stepfather with two of the leading Kent families, Sondes and Dering. Though classed as a Whig he voted against the Administration in all recorded divisions of this Parliament except on Lord Cadogan. On the peerage bill be was put down by Craggs as to be spoken to by John Fane. He died in 1739.
