Sneyd, whose grandfather had represented Newcastle-under-Lyme in James II’s only Parliament, was the cousin of Ralph Sneyd of Keele, M.P. Staffordshire 1713-15, who led the Jacobite riots in the county in 1715.1Staffs. Parl. Hist. (Wm. Salt Arch. Soc.), ii(2), p. 221. In 1718 he was returned as a Tory for Lichfield but was unseated on petition. He died 11 Feb. 1745.
