Dutton was returned for Gloucestershire as the candidate of the Beaufort interest. His first recorded vote was for Lowther’s motion against the war, 12 Dec. 1781. He did not vote in the divisions of February 1782. On the censure motions of 8 and 15 Mar. he voted with Administration. In Robinson’s list of March 1783, drawn up after the division on Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, he is marked as ‘abroad’. He voted for Fox’s East India bill, 27 Nov. 1783, but subsequently supported Pitt. He did not stand in 1784, having received a promise of a peerage. There is no record of his having spoken in the House.
He died 22 May 1820.
