Bishop was probably a relation, perhaps even a son, of William Bishop, tailor, who paid 6d. towards Ludgershall’s contribution to the poll tax of 1379. Thomas Bishop, possibly another member of the family, was living in the borough in the 1430s.1E179/196/42a; SC6/1054/25.
