biography text

In November 1401 Bonde and his wife Alice had conveyed the reversion of six messuages and 25 acres of land in Malmesbury and the neighbouring hamlets of Burton and Thornhill, which they held for Alice’s life, together with her interest in other properties there, to Nicholas Sambourn II, Robert Andrew II and others, who in the following year obtained royal licence to grant the same to Malmesbury abbey.1Wilts. Feet of Fines (Wilts. Rec. Soc. xli), 226; CPR, 1401-5, p. 117. He is perhaps to be identified with the Thomas Bonde who in September 1411 obtained exemption from being appointed against his will to any royal office.2CPR, 1408-13, p. 305.
