biography text

Draper would appear to have died or resigned during his term of office as mayor, at some date between 13 Jan. and 30 May 1396, then to be succeeded by Robert Aunger, who sat for Bath in the Parliament immediately following. It is possible, however, that Draper and Aunger were one and the same man, especially as the latter was indeed a ‘draper’. Draper himself was assessed for alnage on nine ‘dozens’ produced in Bath between November 1395 and December 1396.1Ancient Deeds Bath ed. Shickle, 5/17, 53, 57; Municipal Recs.
