biography text
Findon’s name was derived from the manor lying five miles north-west of Shoreham. He appears on a rental of the reign of Henry VI relating to the Mowbray estates at Findon, Old Shoreham and Bramber, but precisely where his own holdings lay is unclear.1SC12/15/75.
