biography text

By November 1388 Heose possessed, at Marlborough, a butcher’s stall and a fishmonger’s stall, both of which he was to convey in December 1397 to Thomas Calston and others. Through marriage he acquired a tenement in Wongar Street, Winchester, and another with a garden in Tanner Street in the same city. He evidently traded, if only on a small scale, elsewhere, because in 1410 a Bristol man was pardoned his outlawry for not appearing in court when sued by him for a debt of £2. At his election to the Parliament of 1406 his surety for attendance was William Alcliff. In April 1414 he himself undertook the same responsibilities on behalf of Thomas Hathaway.3Ibid. i. C30; ii.
