biography text
Hobbes was engaged in the production of cloth in Bath, being assessed for alnage on 64 ‘dozens’ made there between 1395 and 1397. He was one of 24 citizens summoned to choose a site for the new city pillory in 1411. He witnessed a local deed in February 1421 and may have died before 1427, when a garden he had once held in St. Michael’s parish lacked an occupant.
